KLCCC formerly known as Transportation Management Centre (TMC) has been established as a transportation and traffic management system hub since 2005. KLCCC is the pulse and control centre of the city of Kuala Lumpur. KLCCC is powered by four core components namely video surveillance, data collection and digitization, data analysis and AI solutions. Equipped with 5,000 high-definition CCTVs, face detection and artificial intelligence (AI) functions, KLCCC is a data center that gathers all information and all movements that occur on the road. As research and development centre, this mission critical centre enables information about transportation network to be collected, processed and integrated with other control data centres to produce useful information which will then be used by DBKL to monitor the road network operations as well as initiate strategies to improve it.
KLCCC ability to manage and solve the city needs efficiently is based on the 5,000 CCTV cameras installed over 2,000kms stretches of the roads and areas in Kuala Lumpur. These high-definition smart cameras allow KLCCC to collect the data needed to understand and analyze the situation live. By using the concept of integrated and centralized traffic information, KLCCC receives, processes and manages efficiently and quickly all live feed traffic data, within Kuala Lumpur through the Command and Control Centre (CCC) platform. Data collection and digitization takes place 24 by 7 where the data collected includes traffic flow and public places such as parks, playgrounds and location-based surveillance. All traffic events including accidents or incidents that may lead or cause a traffic situation are relayed back to trained personnel to manage in real time and more efficiently. For example, if there is an accident that captured by CCTVs, KLCCC’s First Responder Team will be sent to the accident area and the traffic dispersal by Royal Malaysian Police or DBKL’s Traffic Warden.
