Background and Development
The development of the Kuala Lumpur Command & Control Centre (KLCCC) reflects the city’s continuous efforts to enhance traffic management and urban operations through technology integration. The initiative began in 2004 under the Integrated Transport Information System (ITIS), focusing primarily on traffic management with the installation of 225 CCTV units and 140 Variable Message Sign (VMS) boards.
Between 2014 and 2020, the system expanded to 1,000 CCTV units and 140 VMS units, improving traffic monitoring capabilities across Kuala Lumpur.
In 2020, the centre was rebranded as KLCCC, marking a shift from traffic-only operations to a more comprehensive focus on traffic and city management.
The facility was upgraded with 5,000 CCTV units, 42 panic buttons, 130 speakers, 2,000 AI units, and advanced systems such as the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) and Digital Twin technology.
Looking ahead, by 2026, DBKL plans to install an additional 5,000 CCTV units, further strengthening KLCCC’s capacity for real-time monitoring, analysis, and coordinated response under the Smart City Kuala Lumpur initiative.

Our Function
Intelligent Traffic Light System
Managing 615 traffic light intersections across Kuala Lumpur using two types of smart control systems. These systems adjust in real-time based on current traffic conditions, helping to ease congestion and keep traffic moving smoothly.
Variable Message Signs (VMS)
To make traffic updates more accessible to the public, KLCCC has placed Variable Message Signs (VMS) along major roads. These digital boards show real-time information such as traffic jams, road closures, and travel advice.
Towards a World-Class City
By utilizing smart traffic systems and active management, we help improve how people navigate the city and enhance daily life in Kuala Lumpur. This supports DBKL’s goal of turning the city into a world-class metropolis.
Integrated Command Center
The Integrated Command Centre is a key component in the implementation of a Smart City. It functions as the central hub for data integration, situational monitoring, and coordinated command and control, supporting effective and efficient management of city operations.
